CalSTRS

The largest project Infiniti was a part of at CalSTRS was the My Online CalSTRS for Teachers project (MOST). As the Project Manager, Infiniti was responsible for the day to day management and implementation of a 25 person project created to redesign the CalSTRS’ member facing secure internet portal for its members. The project included redesigning the electronic secure sign-on, developing an electronic signature process, and implementing 10 different forms for online submit and/or, print/sign/send forms with a 2-D bar code. The project strictly followed the SDLC process including the development of use cases and architectural design documentation. The project was extremely complex due to the technical design that required integration between the mainframe that stores member data and the .NET custom developed software that presents the data. The original system had only 35,000 users, results after 9 months have over 120,000 members with an average of 440 new members signing up daily.

The most influential project Infiniti was a part of at CalSTRS was the Actuarial Valuation Project. Infiniti designed and developed a data warehouse to give CalSTRS more faith in there data. The data warehouse facilitated CalSTRS’ transition from an antiquated technology (COBOL / Natural) to a more modern technology (SQL Server): replacing some 80 reports in the process. The data use in the data warehouse is vital to calculating the unfunded liability of the CalSTRS pension, and thus vital to calculating the health of the fund.

Infiniti mentored and managed State staff in the development of a business continuity/disaster recovery program within CalSTRS. Infiniti’s responsibilities included working with State staff to develop a business continuity program consisting of a disaster recovery plan, 9 business continuity plans, and an incident management plan. Infiniti then assisted in the transition from the project to the program area by providing leadership and mentoring to the program manager.

Infiniti was responsible for the implementation of data replication and recovery services at CalSTRS. This project included identification of a hot-site that provides servers, hardware, and software 24/7. Infiniti’s Project Managers responsibilities include facilitating the recovery and replication architecture to replicate CalSTRS current critical server environment every 15 minutes. The project provided data replication and recovery services to CalSTRS business resumption center if the main servers are to go down.
